How can I apply online if they ask for my soical security number, is it safe?

Hi, I'm trying to apply for Kmart and it asks me to put my soical security number. How can apply without putting it down. Or should plug it in instead?
please help

You should always go in the store and apply , when your on the internet there is always a chance someone can take your information and use it for idenity theft .

Try flipping two of the numbers and wait for KMart to call you to confirm the number? This isn't one of my best answers, but I'm always leary of putting personal info over the wire. Hope this helps...

I assume you are applying for a job. As long as it is a secure connection (look for a locked lock in the address bar) you should be safe. If you are uncomfortable with entering such information online, go to a local Kmart and pick up an application.

As long as the area they are asking you to put that number in is secure(lock in bottom corner of browser) It will be fine.

never give your social security # unless it's something you have asked to fill out, if that's the case make sure you see a yellow lock on that page then you know you safe.

use a fake one and correct it at the interview.
