Vrius protection help??

ok so a few weeks ago, a pop up on the computer came up saying that one of the virus protection was out of date and every since then, the same pop-up has been coming up. also alittle pop-up on the bottom right side of the screen by the icons pops up saying the same thing.

then today, i go on the computer and i go into internet explorer and instead of bringing me to my homepage, it brings me to www.pageforsafety.com . now everytime i go to use the internet, it brings me there. i also get popup on the bottom right side of my screen. one of which being "Secrurity Alert: Spyware found". i havnt also been getting pop-ups from all sorts of virus protect to download. i just x-them out.

i do have one virus protection that i use often. Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal.

i have a family friend who is good with computers and about 2 years ago i had the same problem. i remember him saying at the start-up screen pressing one of the F-buttons to use the computer with its basic programs

but no internet. and he said to run the Ad-Aware under this because i wont have the internet and spyware to interfere. i dont remember exactly what it was.

What he was saying is push f8 to start the computer in safe mode. Ad aware is good but check out spyware doctor and use firefox rather than internet explorer instead. See http://www.freeantivirushelp.com for spyware doctor download.

Use the free version. There is absolutely no reason to use the paid, "Pro" version when you want to remove only.

You caught this infection because you are NOT using any anti-virus protection. AdAware SE is an anti-adware/antispyware that provides absolutely NO protection against viruses.

I strongly recommend thatyou install an anti-virus program ASAP in addition to AdAware.

For your anti-virus needs, I would strongly recommend Avira AntiVir庐 PersonalEdition Classic. It has excellent heuristics, a virus detection rate that is better than most "paid-for" anti-virus programs and is light on using your computer's resources. Uses less then 10 MB RAM on my machine. And did I mention that it's free for life! Works great on my Vista box, too.

BTW, Avoid the free version of an anti-virus called AVG, it has horrible virus detection capibilities.

ad-aware is not a anti-virus so y need to intall other software
