I got Norton internet security, how can i unblock or change ports?

At home, my computer was able to get into yahoo answers, but now it takes me to a page where it says page was lost.... It says to change ports from firewall settings. I dont know about this stuff. Any help??

It's really horrible that people are so interested in trashing your software that they can't take the time to assist you with your actual problem and question...

I do not know what you are seeing that is telling you to change the ports on your firewall... but you need to take a look at that or have a reliable and qualified technician do so.. as it doesn't sound right. There is no special port you need to get onto yahoo answers. The port for html in general is port 80 so if you are on one page, you are on the others.

I would first and foremost make sure that your Norton suite is working properly on that computer.. make sure it is configured properly (like try setting the firewall back to defaults) and force a manual update on it to see if the update are current.

If you are still having trouble I would contact your ISP and tell them you are having problems connecting or contact Norton technical support and FAQ pages. You'd want to check with your ISP because it's possible something is wrong with a router in your area.

Delete it, try to return it to the store, then get Avast! Anti-Virus 4 Home Edition.

For windows Firewall go to Control Panel Windows Firewall Exceptions and click on add port. Add both of the ports you need.

Norton sucks

the best thing you could do is get rid of that resource hog called norton and use avg . I know that is probably not what you wanted to hear but it is the truth Norton is Awful


for ForensicGirl , the reason why we trash Norton is because it is that awful , you claim to be some sort of IT expert and yet you do not understand this ? oh well i guess anyone can claim to be what ever they want on here

The best answer you will get from this or anyone that knows a little about computers is this........ uninstall Norton right now it is the biggest waste of money and the dumbest f**king program ever!

At the very least turn of the firewall in Norton and your sites will work fine, but i really do suggest uninstalling it and using the following free programs instead.

AVG anti virus free.grisoft.com
Firewall www.zonealarm.com
