I think I got a virus, may be? Please help me.?

I was online in windows live messenger and then a message from a friend come up "Have you got a picture of mine?", or something like this, with a compressed file coming.

I downloaded it without notice anything until when I try to extract it. The percentage bar is at zero percent when I click stop, thinking it is too suspicious because the file is not the picture file.

I think my computer is clean until someone in my contact list who work with me tell me whether I send something to her. She got same thing as mine and I tell her to click decline.

Did my computer infected already? What should I do?

I've scaned the computer with NOD32 2.7 Control center, not finding anything infected.

Bah its dat lame MSN virus again..When u start up MSN,you go to windows task manager and see whether dere is a process dat says img0012 or sumth liddat,u end the process tree and den clear ur temp interner files.Ur com shld be ok after dat.

Try to scan with your computer anti-virus system.
i use AVG anti-virus,it's free & no expiry date

You really need to consider INVESTing in a proper security suite for your computer that includes complete protection (antivirus, firewall, antispyware, etc) from one RELIABLE vendor (like McAfee Total Protection or Norton 360) and ensure it is properly configured and kept completely up to date...

as well as keeping windows updates completely up to date.

If you had a properly working security suite on your computer it would've alerted you and most likely stopped that file from coming through. Now you will have to upgrade to a proper security suite and hope that you can remove the malware without any data loss or further manual removal steps.

Make sure you get rid of whatever crapware you do have on the computer as your "security" first (if you have anything) and reboot.

Good Luck

nothing infected! just delete that file now.

don't listen others to download that blah blah

stick with nod32,it's gr8 AV and is at no.3 position.

anyone who tells you to buy a security suite such as Norton or McAfee should be fired on the spot ( would be if they worked for me )

there are plenty of free anti virus software out there such as AVG or Avast that run circles around the paid ones
