AVG 7.5 free Edition or McAfee Security Center which one is best ??? |
Which antivirus is best ? I want a good free Antivirus.. Pls help.. It's a trade off... McAfee probably has higher detection rates, but it is a huge memory hog (just like Norton)... it slows your entire system down. AVG on the other hand uses less memory, but might not be as good at catching the viruses (although I have never had a problem with it in 5 years). I use AVG myself.... AVG is good. but at times because of scanning PC may slow down mcafee is better. avg collects information and sends it away, so avg is considered a virus, so use mcafee here AVG is gud........ mcafee became a hassle for me so i'd go with avg.. AVG 7.5 free edition is really good considering that it's a freeware but if you can get the full McAfee security suite, that will be better than the AVG cause the coverage of the free version is limited. McAfee is also good as it doesn't slow down your system as Norton does. AVG - hands down.... Keep things simple! bear in mind that agv is only a virus scan where macafee is a full suite .the post with the full list is vey helpful and as you have to use each part seperatly you will not get as much slowdown as you would from macafee or norton but the sacrife comes at startup as tthere are more programs to load .I use agv/zone alarm/threatfire/seadaware/spybot-search and destroy in a group. I can't believe people are telling you to use AVG or Mcafee. Avg is exactly what it stands for' "Average". Mcafee is just as bad a Norton when it comes to memory usage. It's a hog. So far the best free one i have used is Avast. It has a higher detection rate than AVG or Mcafee and doesn't use as much memory. If you want the best you will have to pay for it. Kaspersky is the best pay one i have found for the money. I have tried all the free ones and none are that good. But' As far as free goes Avast is your best bet. If you decide you want to pay go with Kaspersky. That's what i am using right now and it detects and kills better than any free anti-virus on the market. It found 125 trojans that Avast let get through. Guess i will pay for mine from now on. Hi AVG is better to dl as it serches all file etc McAfee does not does this all well. as it does not capture the virus unlike AVG. also dl spybot search and destroy as this finds trojans that have just started on your computer. avg and spybot together are really good for your computer as they are free downloads and donot take up memory. they also heklp to protect msn . if you need more answers dont hesitiate to contact me. |
