How to Retrieve Someone's IP Address?

I'm wondering how you can locate someone's IP address?

They have a Freewebs website, although, I'm not sure what the link is - narrowed it down to 20 possible links.

The reason being:

Someone anonymously posted on one of my Freewebs websites, exploiting, harassing, spamming, and throwing racial slurs.

I want to find their IP Address so that I can contact Freewebs and notify them of the abuse - I know they have a site on Freewebs, but for some reason, the Command Ping function that you use to find a site's IP Address doesn't work for a sub-domain...

Any ideas?

Probably the best way to locate someone ip address is to visit some site that are specialized in tracing and location of ip addresses:

http://www.ipaddresslocation.org
http://www.find-ip-address.org

This will only work if he (or she) has a ststaic IP, not a dymanic one.

Ok getting someone's IP Address according to me could be tough, unless and until you dont have a direct connection to their computer. I would do that by adding that guy somehow in my chat and send him a long file, while the file is being sent i would open command prompt and do netstat -a or netstat -n and you would foreign IP Address on the port 80 and that would be the IP Address of that remote computer.

Second option is employing sniffers and they can also perform that task.

^^ James has got the right idea. If for some reason they use a non web-based e-mail address like Microsoft Outlook, their IP address can optionally be displayed in the message headers as X-Originating IP.

And you said ping wouldn't work, try doing trace route in command prompt.
"tracert" <-- (no quotes.)
good luck
