I have Norton360 08. Regsweep free scan says I have 155 problems. Is Norton any use?

Is Regsweep worth having, & what does it cost, it doesn't say?

Many thanks to everyone who replied! Willy & Tom have reassured me that Regsweep is unnecessary, & I'll stick with Norton. Have also heard I should delete Windows Defender to speed things up, as it's not required as well.

I have yet to find a registry cleaner that was worth paying for. Try this -

http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscare...

it has comparable registry cleaning capability, other useful tools, and it's free.

i would not touch norton with a 10ft barge pole, this is why we changed to system mechanic, anything is better than norton.

Norton sucks i got it free with my pc and uninstalled it straight away.
Over Bloated shite if you ask me that is a processor hog and will noticeably slow your computer

norton deleted all my system files calling them viruses, and those that say you have 432 problems are just scam fraud and ****

forget "cleaning" the reg, it's a myth, no speed or performance increases will be obtained this way, you just run the risk of screwing something up, AVG is free and it's the best anti virus out there.

Norton's a dreadful resource hog. Moreover, any "free scan" will always find hundreds of "problems" to persuade you to buy it. Technically it may be correct, but most of these problems are so minor as to be invisible to the naked eye and will have no effect on your machine.

I agree, use Advanced WindowsCare from Iobit, it's free, simple, effective and doesn't take over. And AVG's free anti-virus.

You'll probably need Symantec's own removal tool to get rid of Norton properly - you'll find it on line.

they are two different things one is a reg cleaner the other is a virus scanner and firewall

why when anyone mentions Norton do they come out in droves to condemn it if you've got enough ram to run it its a blinding virus and firewall protection

Norton is bloat ware ditch it. If you want a free anti virus use AVG. If you want a decent firewall get Zone alarm, if you want antispy/antiadware get adaware and spybot search and destroy. If you feel you really want to pay for an anti virus try Kasperski. Beware of programmes that tell you that you have x number of problems or have x virus and download this programme to kill them.

Shhh, don't mention Norton, it only upsets people. Most of whom will recommend AVG, a program proved in independent tests to be inferior.

Norton's fine. Not my choice but a good program. I strongly suspect that it is Regsweep that is no good, probably finding problems that don't exist and trying to frighten you in to buying it. Give it a miss.

You have Norton 360 Keep it ,It's the best out there. It might be heavy on memory but if your PC can handle it that's fine. remember you only get what you pay for. Regsweep is a scam not worth spending good money on.

OK. Lets gets this clear.
Registry problems arn't viruses, or anything bad or harmful. They are just little minor problems that you get from uninstalling programs and other stuff. There are loads of different registry cleaners out there and your Norton thingy is one of them. Just let it fix them and you might notice your comp run a bit faster and more efficiently. As long as it doesn't find viruses you know your OK.
