Why can't I open Spybot??

My computer has been infected with spyware, and I have used Spybot to get rid of these problems in the past. This time, my spybot SD mode won't even open. I can click on it a million times and nothing will happen. I've tried uninstalling it and installing it again. PLEASE HELP! ITS BEEN 3 DAYS!!

Try this.

Windows XP
Click Start.

Open My Computer.

Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.

Select the View Tab.

Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.

Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.

Click Yes to confirm.

Click OK.

Windows Vista

Click Start.

Open Computer.

Press the ALT key.

Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.

Select the View Tab.

Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.

Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.

Click Yes to confirm.

Click OK.

This also happened to me a few times. Don't click too many times. Just click on the Spybot icon once and wait for a few seconds. Sometimes it may also take you a min or more so be patient. If this failed, you might want to change to another good anti-spyware app that loads faster than Spybot, such as Spyware Terminator from Crawler.

It's possible that whatever has infected your computer is supressing spybot. My advice would be to visit the google pack website, and use it to download Spyware Doctor and give that a spin. If for any reason that isn't enough to resolve your problem, you might want to check out my step by step guide on the matter, here: http://prometechus.blogspot.com/2007/09/...

if you have windows xp or later . have you tried using system restore to go back before the infection happened or use an online virus scanner.

I think there are some free ones or you can try downloading a free trial of norton or another program to get rid of the infection.

to do system restore go to > start >all programs>accessories>system tools>and then click on system restore and choose a restore point
