Dual boot xp/vista now won't detect viruses?


So I set up a dual boot with xp and vista but now when i run a virus scan (on either os) with Mcaffe Total Protection nothing is ever detected. Before I added vista I used to have at least 5-10 things things detected (usually cookies) every time I scanned which was at least twice a week. But seriously, since i added the dual boot i havent gotten a single detection and it's been a few months!

What do you think is affecting that?
Does it maybe have something to do with signature files or something?
I pretty worried about it.

I have dual boot on my machine with XP and Vista. Most virus scan software detects virus by checking the file signatures. So long as one can access all the files in the harddisk and the partitions (using Window Folder), there should be no problem for Mcafee to work.
One possibility is that the signature or definition database file in Mcafee has been corrupted and as a result, Mcafee did not have the full power to detect all the viruses.
Try to uninstall the Mcafee completely by using the Add/Remove from Control Panel or the Mcafee installation disk and re-install Mcafee again. Also update the definition file again before scanning the harddisk.
If one still cannot find the virus, try to test the scanner by planting a test virus file. One should have no problem getting this test virus file (That does nothing ) by googling the Web or from Mcafee website.

First of all.. if your system and security is properly set up then your security suite should not be detecting anything because it should be blocking anything it would later detect from being downloaded to your system in the first place!

This is why its called real-time protection and why you shouldn't have to manually scan for anything.

If you have paid for McAfee then I would suggest you contact McAfee technical support and have them walk you through the settings / configuration of the product to ensure that you not only have an updated version and updated definition files but that you have a complete suite properly installed.

I would also suggest you ask them where you can find training materials so that you know how to properly operate your program (from now on.).

Try reinstalling McAfee software.

Log into the McAfee site and download another copy of the software and activate it with the product key you recieved when you initally installed the product:
