In a virtual machine, do I need to run anti virus software on it?

I have Norton 360 on my host, so I think that since the virtual one runs in the host, everything I do on the virtual PC will have to go through the Anti Virus on the host machine. Is that true?

No. It is not true. But if your virtual machine gets infected your regular computer will not. If you want to protect your virtual machine also put antivirus on that.

yes...but not directly...the operating system that is installed on the virtual machine may be vulnerable to attacks by Windows based viruses so you have to be careful and scan it..you wont loose anything
