What is the best free anti virus except for free avg? Hello, Free antivirus - avast! 4 Home Edition Not trying to get off topic, but I found that once I had enough experience, I didn't need antivirus anymore. If you know what your doing online, what you're downloading, etc then all you need is a firewall. It'll save you a lot of lag on your system and if you know enough of what you're doing, you wont get even a single virus. Here is a free antivirus from Germany that is rated as good as Kaspersky or NOD32. (I use purchased from http://www.filseclab.com). You could give this one a try. It seems to work reasonably well. Clamwin is working ok for me. Incremental Backups on CD-RW or DVD-RW are the absolute best, should be done no matter what.
