What is Index.dat Suite?

I have a program called Index.dat Suite.

Don't know how or why I got it.

I run it periodically, but have no idea what it does.

I know it's stupid, but can anyone tell me what this program does?

Am I wasting my time running it?

Index.dat Suite allows you to find, inspect and delete all index.dat files on your computer. The index.dat files are used by Internet Explorer to store references to previously visited web sites and cookies. They are not deleted by simply emptying the browser cache, but require manual deletion and a reboot. This little tool makes it easy to find the files, view the content of them, and then optionally delete all or selected index.dat files.

Not sure what the suite is but index.dat is a record of all the websites you visit and CANNOT be erased. I guess by that your program has found a way to erase it

Index.dat is the database for Internet Explorer. This file is updated with redundant information such as recently viewed sites.

The fact that you have a program called index.dat suite, i would assume this was some kind of enhancement. Although if you do not know how you got it, then it could be dodgy. Since you don't know what it does, why not just get rid of it? its obviously not of any use to you and at the moment poses a security risk!
