I have just installed an additional memory card into my computor and I cant get my computor to accept it Help?

Chances are you have the wrong type of memory installed. Remove the memory you just installed , and run this tool http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/ind...


This will tell you what type of memory you need to install!

Not only do you have to make sure that your memory card is compatiable with your computer. But, you have to make sure that you're installing it in the correct spot. Some computers require memory cards/chips to be placed in there specificially.. For instance with Dell.. If you have 2 64 Meg Chips and 2 128 meg chips. it will take all 4 chips.. But, you can not place them anywhere you want. They have to be placed in a specific order. Don't ask me why. I couldn't tell you, I just know you do.

is the ram supported by the motherboard? make sure it is. If it is compatible then take out the old ram and fit the new ram into the slot you took the old ram from. if this works then try putting the old ram into the other slot and if your computer still doesn't pick up the extra ram then the memory slot on your motherboard is either broken or your motherboard only accepts a certain make and model of ram. Dells are the worst for upgrading ram, so if its a dell PC contact Dell.
