I have a Canon scanner, need help with installation?

I just got a Canon Lide90 in the mail. Here's a direct link:

Now, the instructions are easy. Just insert the CD and follow the instructions but the manual says to NOT connect the scanner to the computer before installing the software. Does that mean the software from the CD or the software from the website? If it is the software from the website then do I need to download it before putting in the CD or after? Or neither? Help please! Thanks!

Keep the scanner's USB out of the PC. Install the software from the CD. After rebooting the PC, plug in the scanner and turn it on. The PC will now recognize the scanner and automatically install the driver.

Keep it simple. I have a Canon scanner I just installed like this - no problems

If you have the cd why do you need to download from the website? Whatever you need to do, do not connect the scanner before you have installed everything, both the cd, and the download.

Pretty easy.
Plug in the Scanner, Turn it on Connect it to the computer.
The Correct sequence is
Turn off your computer.
Plug in the scanner and turn it on
Start your computer
A box should come open saying New Hardware has been detected and will ask if you have the software or do you want to search the web. Select You have the software.
Put in the CD and follow the Instructions.
Sometimes you will need to go to the Scanner Manufactures Web site and download more up to date drivers than came on the CD if thats the case download them drag the folder to the Canon Folder and double click to unzip them and then use the scanner.
