How do I make my scanner not stretch images?

My scanner stretches images and I can't put them on DeviantArt. !! Help! Photosmart Express.

If the effect occurs during time, with no changes made in the
scanning program, the scanner hardware can be the reason
for such.
Possibly the driver motor which pulls the scanning device
forward, is braked by something or some condition causing
friction or by lack of grease on the sliders and other
mechanical parts so the scanner bar goes forward too slow.
