Scan text?

How do I use my scanner to scan the text from a document and save it in a format such as Word?

IF you installed the software and the drivers that came with your scanner, you should be able to do this quite easily.

If you provide the scanner model (such as HP Scanjet xxxx or HP officejet xxxx,) I'll be able to tell you what software/OCR that's installed and how to initialize it, do the scan and save it.

you need a scanner with an RTF (Rich Text Format) scan setting

i think you need some kind of software to do that. where i work in the morning we have a program called omniview which interfaces w\ the attached scanner and it will extract all of the text out of scans and you can save it however you want.
