What programming language should I start learning as the first language?

I'm goinf to study IT security and I think I will need to write different softwares...!

I would suggest C, then C++ as well as the Linux operating system.

A lot of the security software was written for and in Linux or Unix. Not surprising, the majority of it is also written in C or C++. You'll find gcc used on many Unix systems as well as Linux where it is the default compiler

So if you want a head start, learn those. Pick up a few books to help you learn stuff and use as references.

Once you learn one programming language, you'll be able to learn other programming languages much easier. Learning how to deal with Linux will give you a big boost in a Unix environment.

Personally I like C++, but nearly everyone today prefers Java. There are a lot of people who will hire with CSS and Visual Basic, but since Java is more coplex, I would start there. Everything should be easy after that.

Visual Basic, Visual Java, Visual C++, ... any of those.

Personally I like VB but then, that's just a preference. I DO have hard reasons for it though. VB does strong data typing, which is very important as a concept. C variants (and Java falls in that category) often are weakly-typed, leading to cases where it is too darned easy to make terrible programming errors.
