Jsp if statement question?

Just wondering about the if statement used when checking if a username and password in the database match. Will it have to be in a rs.next() loop to check every row?

You should the checking at database.
E.g.
Select ID from users where username ='uname' and password = 'password';

If the query return no result, means the username and password do not match.

No. You're meant to check the username password in the SQL statement, not in Java.
