What are the pros and cons of web hosting? |
Should I host my own website? Or should I allow someone else to do it for me? Not sure exactly if you're asking if you should host your website from your personal computer at home or purchase a web hosting account with a company? You are going to need to set up a server and keep it running and are going to need to hook up fast internet to it like t1 or t2 or t3. Depends on what the website is for. If it is for a few hundred users, then do it yourself. Windows XP with IIS 5.1 works just fine (I run my website like that) but best to use a router to hide the address. You have to get a web address for it (in UK I pay <7拢 for 2 years for domain name reg and mail forwarding). Is a question of pros and contras. If you rent a hosting you need to pay rent and be occupied by it; if there is a provider whom you host you must take it full of advertising. If I were you I would let someone host it for me. Probably on a shared server would be the cheapest. If your thinking of having alot of traffic though I would go with a dedicated server which is really expensive at about 130 - 150 dollars a month. shared is only like 13 - 25 dollars a month. I am with http://www.hostgator.com/ unlimited bandwidth a month and 1,000GB of storage space for only 13.00 dollars a month. You have to buy web hosting from website like http://aplis.net/ . If you do it yourself, you will learn something and you could be proud of yourself. Why not try using dreamweaver to create websites. Hi, |
