Do companies still uses Visual Basic 6.0? |
I was learning it in college and my professor told me that Microsoft stopped supporting it. Is it still worth learning or should I move on to VB.net? A lot of companies still used VB6 because of the legacy issues. New windows like Vista still support VB6. no...it s not so, vb is still used in many firms, but at the same there is no loss, if u learn vb.net, Some companies still use it but it's kind of like COBOL: It's still around because they have a legacy system written in it and it would require to much time and effort to change it. VB 6 is still very much alive in the workplace, despite reaching it's of if life cycle. Well, if you're given the chance to switch to VB.Net... i'd say that a very good opportunity for you... yes it's true that Microsoft stopped supporting VB 6.0 already but then some companies still use it (specially if their existing system is written in VB 6.0). In the US, you'll find more work to revamp systems to .NET from VB6, than to work in VB6. |
