What should I use to put up a website? Yahoo, facebook, myspace, ect? |
I am wanting to put up a site that will have revelance for my family, friends, and business partners. i think you can use www.freewebs.com The proper way to do this is NOT to use services like facebook or myspace. Rather you should purchase a domain name (www.your-name-here.com) through a company and then have them host your domain and website. Once you have your domain and you purchase a hosting plan, then install some software like wordpress which will give you all of the features you mentioned. A good hosting company (not expensive, and reasonable) is dreamhost.com - you can purchase and set-up your domain through them, and install the wordpress software very easily. After that it is a matter of investing huge amounts of time to get it to look the way you want. The website for my organization is done exactly in this way you can see it at www.wagnerhills.com ... the cool thing about this though is that it is totally customizable and doesn't connect you to other organizations (like facebook or myspace).
