Can I change a sub file to srt?

My Nero software won't read sub files only srt. Is it possible to change the file extension to srt or will this screw up the file?

Don't do that.. i am almost sure it won't work, but you won't screw up anything since u can rename back your file.

If u are up to date with your codecs you should probably not have this problem; i don't use that software but i guess it should load automatically the subtitles. CHECK IF YOUR SUBTITLE HAS THE SAME NAME AS YOUR MEDIA FILE , most of the times that's the default method to associate the media file with the right subtitle; so if the names are different change the name of the subtitle (for example : "Shrek_3.avi" will go with "Shrek _3.srt" as well as with "Shrek _3.sub" ) [Otherwise browse the menues of your software for something like "load subtitle from..."]

For my own needs, i made a little piece of program to make the conversion between these two formats... (i realy don't like the idea of using frame counter for synchronising as it happens in the case os SUB files) .. so, if u like programming, take a look at these two subtitles formats (u can do this with Notepad) and tryto make the conversion code; it will be fun ,and less than 100 lines in C. U can contact me if u need help about that :)

PS: Do you realy want to use Nero software for that ??? WMPlayer comes with your O/S and will just do the trick as well... and you will need no conversion...
