For which one should i go for C++ or JAVA ?

Hi guys,

Its now 1yr since i m working with a small software firm.
My work profile is more related to software testing than programming.
Now I m about to make a move towards programming and development, but confused which way to go........
currently the product i m working in is implemented in C++ with RH9 and JAVA for the GUI and core JAVA.

I m confused about which way to follow from here C++ or JAVA

As per future growth in C++ and JAVA, pls post ur comments

You can go for either of them it won't matter too much in the log term which language you select.
But what will matter is how you build upon the base language.
Look in Software Industry these languages just act in the background ...more important consideration is to get familiar and skilled in various frameworks and APIs which theyencompass, only this will create weight on your resume and value for the client.
If you select Java then you must get yourself familiar with following:
JSP, Servlets, Frameworks like STRUTS, Velocity, Spring, OR tools like Hibernate, various XML APIs etc...
Then you can go into details and master one or the other depending upon whether your intrest lies in one or the other..front end or back end, web apps or desktop apps

go for java. c++ is meant for system programming and not much used for application developments.

Job market also demans java. ofcourse you have options like CSharp, Ruby on Rail (upcoming), Python, PHP and ASP.net which are current favorites in job market.

Don't look at the strength's of language, rather choose by productivity and industry support.

java

Java is a good choice to make career. There are many opportunities in Java.C++ is also good not like java. Its a Platform to develop softwares and web application. So its the best choice.

The Champ

Java is the newer base of coding. You should learn that. However, it is easier to learn if you know C++, since they are similar.

how you will rate you ?? do you want a super outstanding future ?? like want to show the world i done something ?? then go for C++ or you want to follow some one go for Java .. java is having more options now and u will get more chance also but C++ is very different if your crazy for programming you can do wonders..believe me

java is best for your question and your interest
thanks

hi friend as per my knowledge i can say that u go with java..as most of the firms r preferring java.but, once again check out for the language ur firm prefers n the one which u r interested in..
interest make us the most successful n powerful person..ALL THE BEST MY FRIEND

The hardest thing to learn or get your head around in c++ is the pointers and proper memory management but if you learn c++ learning JAVA will be a breeze.
