Is Gimp good?

It doesn't give you any viruses or anything does it?

Grrr it's so confusing :O

I think your additional details answers your own question. It stresses you out because of the learning curve and because some printing technology is proprietary, and while Adobe takes responsibility for licensing it in Photoshop, Gimp by its nature can't, and taking files to a commercial printer can be a HUGE headache. So I hate Gimp. It may leave your body more vulnerable to germs.

I use it still because I do art and I use Linux at home. I will not have Microsoft products in my house if I can avoid it. Gimp is available for most OSes but most versions of Linux install it by default. It is part of the Open Source Movement (G in Gimp stands for GNU). And I know this sounds disloyal but I can NOT wait until Google's investment in a version of Wine which runs photoshop on Linux pays off. I drive fifty miles each way to a FedEx/Kinko's and rent either a mac or a windoze machine for it.

I used The GIMP once and loved it. No spayware/adware/viruses. It is one great program... It's just difficult to install sometimes.
(you have to get a runtime engine and then get The GIMP)

I use gimp for my pics and its good when you want to edit the pic's. Just got to be careful when you save.

The install part of it I have found to be okay tbh. Its just the program can be a little confusing when you want to do something which you think is quite simple

The GIMP is just an image editing application, it doesn't include any mal/spyware. You get those things elsewhere. :)

As to it being good. It's a well rounded programme and generally, its only limitation is your ability to use it to make/do what you want.

Its got a bit of a learning curve if you're coming from Photoshop, but its plenty good enough for most common (and most uncommon) uses. Its developed by a community of hundreds of users and thousands of beta-testers, so if you get it from the official site or another reliable source you can be confident that its safe and virus free.

Gimp is o.k. but when you have to hold down two keys and move your mouse to make a straight line that's where I stopped using it try paint.net
