How do you cut an avi. file into 2 pieces?

Like say you have an Anime downloaded and it's 175mb and 24 mins . How do you cut the file into 2 pieces? Like 85+Mb and 12 mins, to have part 1 and 2. I hope I'm making sense here. xD Step by step please if you know how. Thanks 10 points for the answer going to bed now so I'll see the answers in the morning.

Basically you require a movie splitter rather than a file splitter.

File splitters cut the files into required fragments logically. You may or may not open the file individually.

Movie splitters are better in your case. You can cut the movies into required sizes and also can watch the splits.

You can simply use windows movie maker (pre installed) to cut any type of video files into as many parts as you want.

if you wants to join these files again then you can use hjsplit to cut in 2 pieces
however yo ucan see only when you again join parts.
