Step by step instructions for website?

what is the difference between a website and a webpage. I am not computer savvy and want to start my own website. how do i go about doing it do i need to copyright my name then go to somplace like godaddy.com or do i need to do some other steps. I just want a website about me for right now so I can get use to it before I set up one for my business. any help would be appreciated

You find a host - a place to put your site.

A site is usually more than one page. A page is a file.

Download XAMPP and run the site on your own computer, until you have something you'd like the public to see, then worry about a host. Freewebs is okay to start. If you want your own domain name, you'll have to buy one. If you want a commercial host, you'll have to pay for hosting. (Don't buy the name from the host - buy it from another host. there are writeups all over explaining why.)

If you want a nice - and free - editor to help you design the site, try NVU. But you should learn how to design a site first - try w3schools.

Before you pay for a webhost. Try freewebs.com

A webpage is a single page, a website is an entire site. Ebay is a website, peoples individual myspace pages are just web pages.

For what You are trying to do I would probbably just reccomend getting a myspace. They are really simple to use and require no knowledge of web design and they are free. Just my suggestion...

But if You want a super professional entire site dedicated to Your self (You Narcissist) then You will need to register a website address, get a webhosting service, and do some design work, you could hire a web designer if you want to go all out. Just google web design.
