Vista slow boot with black screen?

The boot process seems unusually slow. For some reason it sits on a plain
black screen for some time before moving onto the screen with the logo and
loading bar where it all seems normal and loads at the speed I would expect.
Once in Vista all seems normal. Any help is greatly appreciated.

This is how Windows works. It loads all extensions during startup. Add more apps with more associated files and it will load them during startup. This is the only way Windows can be compatible with today's fast paced world.

There are better ways and it has nothing to do with a faster this or more that, it will simply bloat again.

This type of Pre-Loading (see c:\windows\prefetch) started with XP due to it's largly obese code base and need to support applications dating back to the 80's.

If you don't like try something *Nix based like PClinux2007 or get a Mac.

my last laptop did that i brought it to a comp warehouse..your screen..is losing power..youll need a new one..120 dollars =]
