Whant to become graphic gesigner/ gaming designer? |
Hi, im 14 and want to become a graphic designer when i get older, learn how to make games, programme games ect... So these are my questions; what exctly does programming a game mean? What is that "language" people say you have to learn to make video games (c++ and others...)? What are some free softwares/programmes that you can download or books that could help you on animation and creating video games (not even the really high tech ones)? and... well you get my point i dont really know **** about all of this (expet flash, used it in 8th grade and a bit of photoshop...) So PLEASE HELP ME... A good start would be to do game programming in flash. Make something simple with Flash, mainly using actionscript, and only time line when you really need to. A simple game, either think of one, or create one yourself. Make sure you use Object Oriented programming, as that is important... Make as much code reusable as possible. Once you've done you're first game, do your next a bit better. This will probably take you a couple of years do to some proper large/big games yourself(depending on how much time you spend) and during this, it will teach you a lot of programming, and game logic, and game design. without spending months trying to figure out how to make a box using C++ and DirectX. Flash is where i started, i found it fun and amusing, and frustrating at times. It sure has taught me alot. There is a lot of work in becoming a game designer and in no way is it fun. Expect to be programming for 12 - 16 hours a day non-stop making classes and functions and nothing similar to a game as well having to build what you are told. You will need to get a B.Sc. in Computing Science as a start. |
