What are the pros and cons of PHP over JSP?

We want to develop a small website but high traffic. 90% of them are read operation from MySQL. And we want to use latest web 2.0 features like tagging, blogs, forums etc off-the-shelf. What is the best technology to use?

PHP or JSP. We have development experience in JSP but it has high footprint for high volume website.

Please give us your experiences with the same. Thanks for your answers. Appreciated.

And also we want to use AJAX a lot.

JSP takes more resources to host the website but is better when you have simultaneous users.

I've used PHP for the server-side scripting language for sites that don't get as much traffic.
