Does anyone know how long sms messaging is going to be unavailable on msn?

I'm all the way from Korea trying to contact someone from the States over a something slightly important, but the only mode of contact I have is sms. Any ideas how long this is going to take, or any other free options of contact through sms? (Yahoo does not work.)
