Computer Problem, A Real Mystery Help!?

About 3 weeks ago i was happily on MSN chatting to some mates. when my comp just swtiched off! The battery life was fine even though it was plugged into the wall. I switched it back on to have this 'AMERICAN ANGELS' thing come up. Now everything works apart from MSN. as i kept pressing enter on this american angels screen reboot thing it came back to normal apart from MSN. i have re-tried installing it in total six times, i have conatcted windows live team, the answers they gave me do not work, someon have any thoughts?

Did you scan your computer for viruses? There for awhile there were alot of viruses spreading through MSN Chat.

you ruined it. no second thought. and god knows how you'll possibly fix it. msn destroys.

Maybe you have a virus?
Try to do a system restore it sometimes works,
click Start>all programs>accessories>System Tools>System restore
Then choose a date that you would like the computer restored too.
It works sometimes, but not everyone has system restore enabled
If it's a virus try scanning your computer with an anti virus program you can get them free on download.com
I think it's AVG anti virus

Relax mate, nothing happened to your PC or MSN. Just Uninstall all the components and MSN itself from your PC (from normal software and windows components option from control pannel>add remove SW). Then run anti-virus and Anti-spam guard you have in your PC. After that go to the Start>system tools and restore it on an earlier date from the thing happened. now run the anti-virus again.

Now download the new MSN and hope every thing will be fine.

try using system restore to return the machine to a condition it was in before the failure - you will have to be quick as XP automatically deletes restore points older than 30 days old

go to run type msconfig and system restore is two thirds of the way down the opening page
choose restore my computer to an earlier time
choose a date before it went pear shaped
thats it job done.

note that although you womnt lose changes to documents etc, any programs you have installed after the restore date will have to be reloaded.
