MSN Live Messenger Takes Soooo Long To Sign In.. Help?

I have a Acer Travelmate 2450 Laptop. I have Windows Live Messenger on here, too. It takes my computer 10-15 minutes just to sign into MSN. It also signs me out FREQUENTLY, like every 20 minutes, so having conversations is impossile. During that time it's signing me back in, my computer is sooo slow I can barely do anything else.. Is it MSN or my computer/ internet connection? Can anyone help on how to make it quicker? Any suggestions? Thanks, :)!

this is a problem with your internet connectivity.
the fact that you're signed out frequently means that it's not a software related issue (unless there's a virus)
try doing a ping.
start->run->cmd
in the black window that appears, type in
ping yahoo.com /t
and press enter. (press ctrl + c to stop the test)
note any "requests timed out" if you get replies than your internet connection is good.
here's the catch, it's all or nothing. if you get mixed results between replies and timeouts, you have a bad connection.
if you get 100% replies, you have a firewall or virus blocking your connection. if you get timeouts only, you're not connected.
lastly, pay attention to the time, anything over 500ms means you have a poor internet connection, dial up answers pings in about 100ms.
