How did someone get into my MSN account?

I kept on getting told that I was online when I wasn't for the past week. Yesterday no one was home at my house and when I was visiting a friend, she was on her computer and it showed that I had signed on. I tried sending a few messages but I didn't get a response. Same thing happened when my other friends sent me messages - they thought I was just a snob! I have changed my password. I also changed my question and answer which is used if I forget my password. How did someone get in? Also why use it?

Perhaps you logged into MSN somewhere else and saved the password. If you did this then MSN would try to sign itself back in again all the time.

If someone was trying to take over your account then you would think they would change your password as soon as they got in.

As for how if someone knows all your personal details for MSN including your secret answer then they can access your account this way.
However this would reset your password so you wouldn't have been able to log yourself in if someone had done this.

I'm not going to tell you how as i think it is inadvisable to do so but if you can access a computer on which someone is currently logged in to MSN there is a way to find out what their password is. This is the only way I can think of this could have happened

Sounds like someone hacked into your account, they probably use a keylogger

I am not sure if someone actually got in to your account. But I had similar problem. All world sees me online while actually I am not.

I think this is some kind of bug of yahoo. The system does log you out, but the status does not change. Maybe its got something to do with cookie settings and stuff.

get a good firewall elle. Chances are there's a trojan in your computer. Hacker on board. Get a good firewall and do a complete in dept scan. After that's done, change all your passwords again.

this kind of problem has happened to me but 4me what happened is that people sent messages to my email and someone receive them to his email exactelly the same as mine. i don't know how we had the same email adress. so problems like that occurs sometimes. but try to find out if someone has known your personal details bcuz it sounds unusual.

if it finds some files and won`t delete them (due to commercial reasons that might happen) copy&paste the report on the notepad, search the files and delete them. don't forget to unable your antivirus temporally before online scanning
