How do I get rid of an MSN virus?

I have a virus and it sends it our to people on my contact list and I can't see when it's sent it. It sends a ZIP file and a message: Is this picture too kinky for myspace. I tried to follow a tutorial online to get rid of it, but in the registry I couldn't find the file and I didn't want to screw the system up. msnvirusremover.tk doesn't work and CA Anti-Virus hasn't detected anything.

Step 1:
Go to
Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools ->
System Restore.

Step 2:
Make sure the first button is pressed and click next and a window with a calendar should show up.

Step 3:
Choose an earlier date. A date before you got the virus, If you can't find any in your current month, Try navigating to the previous month and try clicking a date late in the month near the end

Step 4:
A lot of writing will come next after the calendar. Click next. Your computer should restart but the virus should be gone. There is one more way of fixing this virus but I will post that when I'm sure it works.

Yeah i had that and the only way i got rid of it was by renewing the whole program in my computer, you should do that but make sure you save your files and programs in a disk..anyway people that tell you to uninstall msn and then istall it again that dont work..i have tried it when i had the virus and it never worked..

Ask the person who last got the message for the zip file name.

Go to search on the start bar; choose all files and folders.

Type it in and search.

If it comes up delete the folder it's in.

It's a trojan of some sort and not a virus, so it won't show up as such. Ad Aware, (freeware), would most likely pick it up as malware if not Spybot Search & Destroy, (freeware).

Try TROJAN REMOVER from www.simplysup.com. The prog is free for 30 days. Just do a scan and follow the instructions.

if it finds some files and won`t delete them (due to commercial reasons that might happen) copy&paste the report on the notepad, search the files and delete them. don't forget to unable your antivirus temporally before online scanning

Interesting question this, as we've just had to deal with a similar thing.

I agree with the responder who told you how to use the turn back feature on XP and Vista. Providing you have made earlier restore points (which you should do before adding any programmes) that should work.

If you haven't done that then you may like to try AVG freeware. Their programmes are free to personal users. You can download the antivirus programme, anti-spyware programme,
and anti-rootkit programme, from

In the end the solution we found for the problem that arrived through messenger was to run all three of those, plus

You also need to make sure that your computer has a working firewall - like Windows Defender, or Zone Alarm.
