Virus Problem on MSN?

Hey guys,
I was recently sent a message on MSN saying something along the lines of "Check out these pictures!" and then a file transfer, which I accepted from a friend. Unfortunatley it turned out to be a virus, which I opened and then to add salt unblocked. My computer had blocked it and I thought I could trust the person who sent me it.
Now I'm sending the same kind of thing to my ENTIRE contact list when I sign in, and it's really annoying for my friends. Some are even accepting, but then not unblocking it like I did. I know, stupid thing to do.
I've run Ad-Aware 2007, and BT Yahoo! Anti-Spy and neither have picked up on it.
Any suggestions?
This is my last hope.
Thanks in advance, Sammie

I did delete and reboot my PC, I deleted the file ages ago when I first got it :(

its some person who hacks into PC
your work can disappear and your pc can just have a breakdown

i think u should just delete the folder that was sent
and reboot PC

go to your address bar and type in www.antvirus.com...scroll down and click on house call...you can't download it but it will scan and fix your problem and its free...good luck...

hi
go to
http://www.pandasoftware.com
use activescan for online scanning ..
if it finds some files and won`t delete them (due to commercial reasons that might happen) copy&paste the report on the notepad, search the files and delete them. don't forget to unable your antivirus temporally before online scanning
in case activescan won鈥檛 work, use this one its really good too

Right... i got this. its something to do with the registry. which takes ages to explain. i deleted something in the registry which hides in a folder. delete that then find the folder in received files. delete that. then in your temp Internet files look for a zip folder. delete that. you made need to repeat this as i did about 7 times and i ain't heard from it since. i have about 3 contacts on msn that now has it but i have a automatic virus scanner that scans it before i accept it kind of thing well anyway i hope this helps you search it in google for more detail.

There is a virus being spread by MSN Messenger. You are asked to accept a picture from the person who you are talking to. If you do then a file called PICT1324(2)(1)(1)(2)(1)(1)(1).exe will be transferred to your computer and begin the process of asking others that you chat to to accept pictures as well.

The best way to avoid the file is to keep clicking Decline when asked (if the other person is affected then you will see several messages asking to accept the file)

If you do accept the file then you need to go into msconfig and remove the file from starting when Windows does. Do as follows:

1. Click on the Start button and click on Run
2. Then type in msconfig and click OK
3. You should see a screen that has System Configuration Utility in the blue bar
at the top
4. Click on the Tab that says Startup
5. Locate an entry that says MSN Messenger as the name. The filename will have
PIC1342(2)(1)(1)(2)(1)(1)(1).exe at the right hand side
6. Click the box beside the name MSN Messenger
7. Click the Apply button in the bottom right hand side of the screen
8. Then when prompted restart your computer and when Windows loads up again
locate the file on your computer (it should be in the C:/My Documents/Messenger Received Files directory) and then you should be able to delete it

I hope this helps anyone who has been affected, as my sources show this works quite well.

was this like in a compressed file, the same thing happened on my friends msn, it seemed weird when i saw it but i didnt open it as i thougt if he was going to send me something like a picture it would be ok to transfer as a picture, if you see anything sent to you in a compressed file or a website your friend "might" sends you straite away after he logs in or when you log in dont open it

compressed files are there to send stuff like database or software programs over emails that security measures wont allow because as that can be a hazzard and could affect their system not by virus but can interrupt their system (or could be a virus like this one)

in a shorter sentence a compressed file is used to contain something when its been transferred ( like through email) till it is opened again

now never open a compressed file unless your really sure you know what it is, if your msn friend shows up with one even if you trust them 100%, ask them first what it is, if he or she doesnt know what you are talking about then you know its a virus

just be careful
