MSN Messenger - Opened a conversation window, but didn't say anything straight away, and somehow they knew????

Ok, so I saw that a friend of mine got on MSN, and I hadn't talked to her in ages, so I thought I'd say hi. I opened a conversation window but something distracted me, so the window was open for about a minute, but it was blank, neither of us had said anything. Then after about a minute, after not talking to me for months, out of the blue she msgd me and said "no comments?"...I responded with a series of question marks and she just said "sorry wrong convo", but it seems like more than a coincidence to me, lol. I know for a fact ppl cant tell if u have an open convo window with them when it is still blank. What gives? is there some add-on feature you can download/install that does this, or was it an amazing coincidence? Also she didn't seem to be her usual self in the short convo we had, not very interested, and said "brb" but then signed out, which added to my suspicions that something was just not right. So, I guess the question is "What the hell, is that possible or coincidence?!?!"

To the first answerer: Yes it does, but I hadn't typed anything at all yet, and ppl can't tell if you have a window open with them or not unless you say something, then a new window appears on their computer if you do say something. Thats how it works on MSN (as far as I'm aware). Thanks for your answer. More answere are highly welcomed.

the friend that you were taling to has an add on for msn , its probly stuff plug or discovery x , both have tonnes of features that allow you to customize your msn and also the ability to enable a pop up toast that lets you know when someone opens or closes a convo with you , i have used both programs at different times , discovery actually has a feature that tells you when someone deletes you too lol, and it works really good , iv had some ppl delete me and when i asked them why they were really surprized haha it was pretty funny

um. i don`t use msn, but does it say stuff at the bottom of the conversation box like:

______ is typing a message.

or something like that?

it could be that you have a virus on msn because when you open the window it sends a a link and if you open it yo get the virus and all you have to do is just open a convo window but you dont have to talk
