What's the difference between a notebook and a laptop?

By notebook I mean the computer notebook, not the lined paper notebook.

They're still the same.

My speculation:
It's just that back when they first came out, notebooks didn't produce a lot of heat, so you can place them and work on your lap. As newer models became more powerful, they also produced a lot of heat, thus, making it impractical to keep them on your lap without burning your skin.

Probably why manufacturers dropped calling them laptops, and called them notebooks instead.

nothing but the name

nothing really, sometime notebook is thinner so for thin laptop is called notebook, or in England its called notebook.

lap tops are cooler and mostly always bigger

special focus on laptops just in

I just came across a site that sends you a laptop for free! I'm ordering mine right now, it's a Sony VAIO and it looks really hot!
