I just bought a laptop from my brother....He's been able to pick up wireless internet while passing near....

..."hot spots" and there is a list of the ones he's used in the past. None of those have any signal here at my work. How would I do a search for whatever might be here at the hospital where I work? Sorry I don't know technical terms.

Patrick...it doesn't give me that option. When I right click on it, it says
connect to a network (which gives me the list that have no signal)
turn off activity animation
turn off notification of new networks
diagnose and repair
or
network and sharing center

Actually.. putting it sright forward...
wireless connectivity depends on the strength of the signal...
i catch a signal near my home... i have no idea where its from... actually some people setup there own connections... they forget to protect it...so u can be able to access other peoples net...if you aint getting the signal of the present connections you have used... so it wont work... its just as if you have a charger but no point of connection for electricity...
get the point... the system should detect it self if it find a wireless connection....
enjoy... want more detail...or dont get the point.. just message me back...
okie dokie...
..aT..

Right click on the wireless connection on the bottom right and "View available wireless networks". This will show hotspots within range.

in a hospital, doubt if they have hotspots, gosh you gotta turn off you mobile in hospitals,I think u find internet is distributed by shielded cable and LAN

Ask the hospital if they provide a wi-fi for free within hospital limits. If they do, then you just need to setup your laptop, ask your IT people to verify.
