My new laptop has fingerprint technology, If I set it up, how do I know my fingerprint won't go to the police?

not that iv'e done anything wrong, its the pricipal.

Hi there, "grasshopper"

I log in to my hp with my finger print all the time. Since I am disabled, it cuts down on typing my password when my hands just won't work.

I also use the speech recognition feature. My sweet "huey" has never phoned the police, dialed them up or sent them email or an e-greeting-card. Computers do not think, they do what they are TOLD to do. Did you tell your computer to call the police??

Did you set up the finger-print recognition? If not, you will not be able to log-in with the fingerprint until you set it up. It is finicky, too. It will even tell you it cannot read your finger-print if you do it too fast!!

Did you hack into the police network? If not, settle down and do not worry. Microsoft has not set it up that your fingerprints go anywhere. They stay on your hard-drive in your security settings.

Why are you so afraid of your computer, the big dumb fast calculator?? Does your calculator send your fingerprints to the police??? Does your phone? Of course not, they are just dumb programmable machines.

Since I was the good humor ice cream lady, before m.s. struck me down, my fingerprints--all ten (10) of them have been on file with the police for over 30 years. When I worked in a bank, they finger-printed me too, and complained about my tiny, delicate fingerprints. Ha. :-) They had to do it four times because of my skinny little fingers.
Double ha ha. :-) :-)

In all this time, they have never phoned me nor sent me a birthday card. :-( darn.

I guess they are too busy catching real crooks to bother with my fingerprints or the thousands of finger-prints they currently have on file.

Please calm down or back away from the computer. It will not harm you. Promise.

one never knows

....

it might be worth not using, if it wont read your fingerprint right that will mean a huge head-ache for you.

I'm not quite sure what your asking, but I'm pretty sure that if it's your computer, it won't go to the police unless you have or will commit a crime.

and when you turn on your laptop they watch every thing you do

I believe your confused about fingerprint tech for laptop. All it allows you to do is log in and maybe set up a fingerprint instead of a password for a webpage. Your print isn't going anywhere.

It's probably only resident on the computer itself, why do you think it would go to the police? And why would you even worry about this?

you would have to be dam paranoid if you think your more then likely asain manufactured laptop has a direct link to police to transfer a image of your fingerprint...

Nice Question !!!!
The fingerprint that is captured by the biometric scanner (the fingerprint reader) resides on your computers disk. Its in a format that is usable only by the fingerprint software.. so rest assured the cops arent going to find about your misdemeanor :)

I'm not sure scooby, but I don't think that they just automatically go to the police, just don't do anything wrong - just in case, but I think its used to stop others from using your computer (like say it gets stolen etc) and also I think its to show and track where you have been in cyberspace like a history, hope that helps cya mate!!!
