Pcmcia card? |
i have this d-link pc card that i use in my new dell laptop. i tried using it with this old windows 95 thinkpad and it didint work. what kind of card would i need for the windows 95 laptop? The problem you are having is most likely with the PCMCIA drivers. Windows 95 does not recognize the card because it doesn't have the drivers that it needs to be able to commuciate with it. Your newer laptop probably has XP or Vista which came with the drivers already incorporated into the operating system. It might be possible for you to download the drivers for Win95 from the card manufacturer's website however since Win95 is an old and obsolete operating system now from the support perspective, you may not be able to get drivers. Nor are you likely to find a card compatible with Win95 except perhaps on ebay. Many new technolog products aren't being made that are supported by older systems. That's just the nature of the industry - out with the old, in with the new! |
