A Intel Chipset question ??

when it comes to gaming(Average Gaming) is intel chipsets good or bad? I have a chipset from 2004 that doesn't play any games except game demos(even a handful at that). Please Answer 10 points !!! Thanks in Advance for Any help.

Intel makes crappy chipsets when it comes to gaming. Try to update your drivers at intel's website for a performance boost. Other than that get yourself a better graphics card for $80 and you can expect MUCH better gaming performance, especially for average gaming.

Good Luck

usually they're bad. Getting a video card in there (if supported) should give you much better gaming. If the motherboard was made in 2004, then it might be AGP or PCI-Express, I can't be sure without actually opening it up. You can find one of many good video cards at the following website...

I notice that you published this in Laptops & Notebooks. Is this a laptop? If so, you're pretty much stuck. Laptops don't upgrade well, except for adding more RAM and occasionally swapping out a CD drive for a floppy drive. Desktops are always better gaming machines, period. Laptops are built for portability, but to do that, they usually run slower processors (which are also cooler processors). That's going to slow you down. And the lack of a graphics card, or a slot in which to install one, means that you have to use the onboard graphics, which are never very fast and never have much dedicated memory. That's why desktops wipe the floor with laptops when it comes to gaming.

About the only thing that you can do is to try to get a desktop and a graphics card to go with it. Even a slightly used desktop will be an improvement for you.
