Safe to close laptop before fully shuts down?

You should check your power options first.
If you have it set so that when you close the lid it goes to sleep then when you close the lid chances are it may reboot again,then go into the sleep mode.
I have had it happen so I changed the setting to do nothing when the lid is closed
