My laptop battery doesnt hold a charge anymore whats the deal?

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 and I haven't even had it for a year. Well somethings going on cause when I take the laptop off the charger I have about 15 minutes of battery life when it was fully charged when I pulled it off the charger. Do laptop batteries usually comp out this quickly?

It's probably the condition that you have kept your battery or if you haven't used it for a long time while it was connected to your laptop it causes it to loss it's holding ability. You will probably need to order a new one. But before that try to fully discharge your battery by using your laptop extensively while it's not connected to plug and recharging it for a few hours if that doesn't work then you will probably need to get a new battery

Make sure when your running on battery power that you alter the settings like brightness of your screen and performance of your computer. These two options on low (normal mode) should extend your battery a little longer. It should be in control panel, power options. Good Luck!!

Your battery unfortunately is the norm it seems. I have a acer and it is about the same. You can buy replacement batteries that have more cells that will last a lot longer, but are too expensive for us poor people.
