Should i buy an apple or pc as an aspiring programmer?

I just started learning VB 2005 (posted this question elsewhere but hardly got any respones). It would be applicable to my work because we keep designing in-house applications, and we're all on windows. However, I dread windows vista.

My ONLY hold-up with buying a MacBook is not being able to learn the .net framework (i suppose I could buy windows and run boot camp... ? yes?) are there other languages I could learn on mac that would be valuable, and possibly have an easy crossover if I wanted to assert myself at work?

at home, i only use my computer for music and internet.. and of course, wanting to learn programming. thanks

As a programmer you would want to install Linux on your computer, but these are really only wanted by "hardcore" programmers. These, open source, Operating systems allow you to a lot of control, and ability to manipulate a lot more then Windows Vista, or XP. I would say go with a PC.

About learning a programing language. Really once you learn one language it is relatively easy to learn another one, because the basics of the programing world are already instilled in you.
I hope this helps. Good with the language, programming is a lot of fun.

if i were you i would build my own pc then use opensuse a linux distribution. it is fast reliable an constantly supported.
the OS has the option of installing packages for writing i don't know how many languages!

hope it all work out!
