How can i close my macbook pro without it turning off?

I looked through all the systems preferences and i can't find anything. i want to be able to close my laptop without it turning off or losing internet or anything. I know how to do it on windows but not on a mac so if anyone could tell me how that would be very helpful :) Thank you.

would it be under system/disk utilities on the mac site?

I've never lost my net connection when closing the lid on my Mac. You might need to go into you system prefs, and make sure your Mac automatically reconnects to the net when it wakes (lid opens).

The standard MacBook Pro can't do it as is. But there is freeware you can get for your Mac which will do it. Go to the Apple website and check their MacOsX software. If not there, try www.macaddict.com.

that is weird that when you close it it shuts off.. mine doesnt =/

If u mean going into sleep mode where a simple click of a button will do just put down the lid, this or leave it idle it will go into sleep mode. Or u can turn of the display in energy savers. Hope this helps
