How long is the lag time that we see on google camera street views when we click on a given street?

it depends on when the van made it's last rounds in that location. A van or other vehicle drives around with a rotating camera, so it could be weeks, months, or years. It's not meant to be a real-time display.

They aren't real time.

They're just a static image- no camera is actually there.

Those are still images as oppsoed to a live or semi-live feed from an updated webcam.

Eventually, I'd imagien Google will update the images. However, the update would depend upon when the next time Google sends the van around to a particular location to take new photos.
