How can I prohibit my browsers from using Google?

Every time I try to search for something, Google hijacks my browser and claims I look like a virus and says I have to input a code that I cannot even make out because the letters are all squished together. I do not want to use Google because lately l have been getting terrible results with it, but it keeps horning in.

My computer is squeaky clean and I go to great pains to keep it that way. But this stupid Google keeps telling me to check for viruses and spyware, neither of which do I have on my computer.

How do I get rid of this pest once and for all? I want to use a different search engine, but can't seem to make a different one work in Firefox. Google keeps taking over; more often than not with this stupid message.

Any help will be appreciated.

open IE go to tools .click the arrow ,in the list.toolbars.google will be in the list if it keeps opening.left click on google and that removes the check mark and it from the browser.
