My iGoogle homepage is redirecting to Sitesure.com's ad for Network Soulutions? |
I've scanned for viruses, trojans, etc, using a number of different programs and am coming up clean - my homepage wasn't hijacked but after Google loads for a few seconds it redirects. The programs you used did it include Spybot S&D? All you have to do is delete "This Day in History" from your igoogle page. It has been hacked. Just click the little x on that gadget. The same thing is happening to me today, and clearing history has not helped. It happens on ANY computer in the house so it seems to be a problem with igoogle getting hacked and not something vile living on my machine. How do you clear the day or any settings at igoogle if you can not get to the account???? It's happening to me as well, even when I use Firefox to navigage to google.com/ig. It appears that if you have a Google Ad-On called "This day in history" is a rouge Add-On and is hijacking browsers to the suresite.com site. Hit the browser's stop button before igoogle page loads and remove the "one day in history" gadget. Before igoogle redirects hit the stop button and delete the add-on. Someone already said this, but I wanted to say that I did it and it worked great! Thanks for all the help. It appears that the iGoogle add-on "This day in history" has been hacked. So it needs to be deleted from your iGoogle page. That's tough because the page barely starts loading when you are rudely redirected. This took care of it for me without having to run any spyware programs or anything: Yeah, this was uber annoying. Instead of doing the probably smarter thing and downloading an anti-spyware app, I used a more brute, lame technique. I removed "This Day In History" from my iGoogle page and it worked. Took me about ten tries to grab the "x", though. did exactly like KOSTAS Z says and it worked perfectly! I had the same problem and I just fixed it today. What you have to do is clear all of your browsing history, and make sure you check the box for "clear add-ons..." To do this, open up internet explorer and go to "tools." Then go to "internet options," and under "Browsing History," click on "delete." Then a window will pop up and ask which parts you want to delete. Here you should click on "Delete All," and a small window will pop up asking if you are sure you want to delete this. Make sure to check the box that says "also delete fies and settings stored by add-ons," and then click "ok." Finally, close internet explorer, reopen it, and the problem should be fixed. You may need to reset your igoogle preferences at this time. |
