Problems with Google?

My laptop was running slow.
I got 4 trojan virses in the last 5 minutes.
I got rid of Google Toolbar, and now it is perfectly fine.

I would like to remove Google Desktop, but idk what it is.
What is it?
Is it okay to remove?

Google Desktop is a sidebar program that runs in the side of your computer screen! I would suggest to take it off because it slows your computer down. However, it is not a source of viruses. I hope I answered your question.
