Google Mail on the Web does not provide simple encryption.

If you use POP3 and Outlook Express then you can add encryption.

If using the Web access, if you want to send some private info to someone you can write it in Word with a password protection (Tools, Protect document). And then send it as an attachment. This will stop most people.

Or use something stronger like Axcrypt which is an easy to use encryption program and very hard to break.
